Rokenbok Double Drawbridge

Products Used: RC Monorail, RC Forklift with Bonus Warehouse, RC Loader, Building Value Pack, Start Set.

Christmas not only brought great Rokenbok toys but new ideas for how to use them. The concept was conceived by myself and it works really well. The monorail pulls the two bridges up on the opposite sides of the structure. It adds an interesting new element to the Rokenbok transportation. Rokenbok is the best!

The RokeN Rad Factory

Products Used: ROK Works Start Set, Tower & Track, Rail Station, ROK Garage, Power ROK-Lift, Down-A-Vator, Building & Blocks Sets (3x), Chutes & Hoppers II (2x), Piston Plant, RC Elevator, RC Forklift with Warehouse, RC Monorail, RC TransGripper, RC Skip Track, RC Monorail with Track, Monorail Track, RC Tower Crane, Auto Center.

The entire layout currently sits on top of a 8’ X 30” & 4’ x 30” table. We have rebuilt this set numerous times but have decided to stick with what we have here and keep adding to it. In the middle of the main building the RC Elevator services all 6 levels. On the 5th floor is an area where vehicles can dump ball which will cascade all the way down to the Piston Plant or Action Sorter located on the ground level. The dual conveyors service the ball tower. The RC Monorail circles the outer edges of both tables (effectively keeping all vehicles from falling off the table). The RC Tower Crane has full access to both the Piston Plant & Action Sorters ball holding areas. The RC Monorail will pickup balls from the ball tower and deliver them to the Piston Plant and Action Sorter. My son and I have spent A LOT of quality time with your incredible product. This toy is ADDICTVE & with good reason.

RokenSoccer

Rokenbok workers need time to relax and have fun. That's why I built them a soccer field. The game is actually a lot of fun to play. You just have to watch out so you don't move the whole field around when you drive into the sidelines!

A Father's Love

Alright everyone, I know, I know what you're thinking. "There's no way that little girl built that large display". I'm busted. Our Rokenbok set started as a toy for dad (me). I had always thought Rokenbok was a nice toy but had never purchased any. I finally started collecting and here we are today. I knew that I would enjoy building the sets and I hoped that as my children grew they would be able to enjoy it as well.

My 3 year old daughter loves Rokenbok. And, with daddy's supervision, plays with it daily. She calls it the "balls". "Let's go play with the balls", she says. Although she is too young to control the vehicles on the ramps, she does like to play with the monorail and she just loves to grab the balls from the hoppers and bins and place them into the conveyors and watch the balls go through the maze of chutes. She likes to play with the Power ROK-lift as well. We started off by building a "L" shaped stand to serve as a foundation for our display. This was the best way to maximize the space we had to work in. When building this set, I tried to have a logical reason for why every element was in the position we put it. Every conveyor, every hopper, bin, silo, platform, etc. needed to be accessible to the vehicles and every chute needed to have a destination that worked with the overall functionality of the environment. We built multiple levels accessible by both the elevator as well as by most of the ramps. There are a couple areas accessible in only one direction due to strategically placed Down-A-Vators. I was able to get a ton of monorail track length built into this design by using multiple vertical layers and zig-zagging the track back and forth throughout the design. The building is 12 stories tall (Including the towers) and the monorail goes 6 stories up. I'm sure that we will have many years of enjoyment out of this great product.

Products used: ROK Works Start Set, Tower & Track (2x), Rail Station, Service Center (3x), Power ROK-Lift (2x), Down-A-Vator (2x), Beams & Blocks (4x), Chutes & Hoppers I, Chutes & Hoppers II (4x), Piston Plant, Monorail Tracks (3x), Auto Center, Port Expander, Blue Bulk Beams, Black Bulk Beams, Action Sorter and Conveyor, Monorail Switch (2x), Monorail Crossing (2x), Construction World, Braces and Supports (x4), Building Value Pack (x3), Roof and Sidewalk (x2), RC Elevator, Elevator Extender Rack Set, RC Skip Track, RC Monorail with Track, RC Power Sweeper.

Table to Table

Products used: ROK Works Start Set, Chutes and Hoppers, RC Tower Crane, RC Dozer, Warehouse w/RC Forklift, RC Monorial w/track, RC Power Sweeper, RC Elevator, RC TransGripper & Trailer, Construction World, Piston Plant, Power ROK-Lift, Down-A-Vator, Monorail Switch, Monorail 4-Way Cross Track, Monorail Crossing, 2 building value packs.

I have ben using rokenbock for 3 years now and when I started to build this I thought that using two tables would be cool. So I used the elevator two get to the higest table and 3 other floors. The 3rd floor goes to the other table. The monorail goes around the tall table.

RMS Rokenbok III

As you can see from the pictures the RMS Rokenbok III it is capable of carrying many containers of sorted Roks, pallets of fuel oil and also has two large Rok storage bins for freshly mined Roks these cleverly unfold onto the loading dock for unloading as well as transporting up to four vehicles at a voyage. The ship is resting on what we call our Ocean transporter it doubles as a bin storage for extra building pieces. It has wheels so the RMS III can travel indoors. It is quite fun trying to unload containers with the Tower Crane from the main deck. While it is docked the Forklifts can drive right on to the deck of the ship from the upper level of the Ocean dock for the unloading of sorted containers and needed fuel drums. The ships crew is even able to fish safely from the main deck thanks to the Monorail crossings being used as self closing gates. Our workers are also taking great pride in the fact that they finally figured out how to center the windows on a (7) Beam with single wall pieces on this build. This technique makes the windows line up with the roofs! Now with Roks arriving daily at the Ocean Dock and being unloaded by the Tower Crane near the Beam Factory Sir Rokenbok can go back to the thing he likes most and that is counting his Rokenbok Money high above ……. Our Rokenbok World

The RokenWheel

Products Used: Action Factory Start Set, Piston Plant, RC TransGripper & Trailer, Construction World, Bridges and Roadways, Service Station, Walls, Building Decorations, Chutes and Hoppers, and a controller.

At first, I wanted to build it with only Rokenbok. However, I compromised and used masking tape to hold the decks in place. My original idea was to use the torque of the center shaft to pump the piston plant in a fashion similar to my RokenMill build. Joey came up with the idea of having the wheel scoop up balls like a backwards water wheel. I worked on the idea for a while, and it stuck. Unfortunately, the torque produced was enough to scoop up the balls or pump the piston plant, but not both. The piston plant idea was scraped, and I continued to develop the ball scooping idea. I used the window pieces to scoop the balls from a custom made bin constructed out of wall pieces. At first, I had the window scoops as wide as the bin. This sounds okay, but it worked differently. The balls were all scooped up at one time; or if there were a large number of balls in the bin, none of them were scooped! I fixed this by placing only one row of windows at a time. This way, when the window begins to scoop up two or three balls, all the others roll out of the way. This drastically reduced jamming, and it kept the balls flowing at a steady rate.

When the balls reach the top of the wheel, they fall off the window paddles and onto the deck. I taped beams at an angle in order to deflect the balls off the wheel. They roll onto a slanted deck and into a hopper. The balls then become dizzy as they spin down the chutes into the bin. (Okay, they probably do not get dizzy, but I would.)

I built a deck in a position to allow entry and exit with the wheel. Entering the wheel is easy, but you have to be a skilled rokenboker to exit it. I have done it before, but most people just manually place the vehicle on the deck.

With a little creative thinking, the sky is no longer a limit. Rokenbok is full of possibilities that are yet undiscovered. It is our job as Rokenbokers to discover these possibly. So, get out there and build for all you are worth!!!

Rokenbok- Moon Base 2002

Products Used: Action Factory Start Set, Monorail Start Set, Bridges & Roadways, Building Value Pack, Piston Plant, Warehouse, Power ROK-Lift, Piston Plant, additional Control Pads, RC Power Sweeper, RC Monorail Freighter, RC Skip Track, RC Loader, RC TransGripper, 2 Trailers, RC Forklift.

The Moon Base was designed and built with various goals in mind. The first goal was to create an atmosphere where a real duty and sense of purpose exist. Secondly, the remote control capabilities of the cars far exceed many "traditional" Rokenbok worlds. We decided to create the ability for long distance driving without constant difficult navigation.

Employees of the Rokenbok Moon Base have to master various tasks to complete missions. A typical days work include going into the mine to collect ROKS, then processing them through sorters and the Piston Plant. Next the ROKS are warehoused until they are ready to be transported off the moon. Tasks may also include moving boulders with the TransGripper, or carefully delivering fuel to the rocket. Almost every operation is dependent on the Monorail Freighter. Prompt control by the all the drivers result in a productive day, which makes their supervisor very happy.

As you have surely noticed, our Rokenbok world is taking design to a new level. We have incorporated traditional model railroading techniques with the new technologies of Rokenbok to create a play set that everyone can enjoy. The construction base is a salvaged 5'x9' ping-pong table banded with 1x4 lumber. All mountain and cliff construction is carved from 2" blue foam insulation. This was painted with white and gray latex paint. The mountain assembly breaks down into 12 sections. This allows for the entire set to become portable. A few blocks are pinned into the foam to insure that we don't have any undesired movement. This mostly occurs on the rail line on top of the spires.

We believe in creating vignettes of scenes. We currently have about 6 main areas including the upper and lower mine, the warehouse, the piston plant, the sorting area, the train loading area, and the rocket area. Having distinct areas allow for us to rebuild without having to completely disassembly the world.

Future improvements to the Moon Base will include the completion of the recycling trough to carry ROKS from under the rocket back to the mine. Low voltages mini-lights are scheduled to be installed throughout the facility. This will allow for night shift employees to see well.

Our family truly enjoys the time we play together. The Rokenbok system provides a great escape into a place where we can use our imagination.
