The Monorail is our easiest vehicle to drive, and offers multiple levels of function and challenge for even the most advanced Rokenboker. This unique vehicle glides across a track created from standard Rokenbok building pieces! Add rail switches and crossings, design a station or depot, or build tall trestles and drive your toy Monorail through multilevel Rokenbok worlds.
The ROK Star Controller (not included) sends the Monorail gliding down the track, and commands the power dump bed to load or dump. That means the Monorail can interact with water towers, chute systems, and every other machine in the Rokenbok fleet. This monorail set includes an oval track set and vehicle crossing.
What has two microprocessors, self centering power dump bed, a hidden rail gripping stabilizer, and cruise control? The Rokenbok Monorail, of course! Rokenbok remote control machines are tough, real working equipment. They are built for rough play, crashes, and spills. This is no ordinary toy monorail, but a precise and very rugged ROK Star controlled robot. ROK Star machines are smart too. They won’t 
interfere with each other so that you can add as many ROK Star machines and controllers as you want to your Rokenbok world.

Rok Star Technology
This Rokenbok machine is controlled by new ROK Star technology. A ROK Star Controller is required, but not included.
ROK Star is a completely wireless, light-based, multi-player, multi-vehicle remote control system. This new control system allows an unlimited number of controllers to talk to an unlimited number of Rokenbok machines simultaneously. Key to ROK Star technology are high-speed data bursts transmitted by infrared light. It's this unique new data transmission architecture that allows multiple controllers to be used at the same time.
The ROK Star controller uses a combination of visible and infrared light to select a vehicle and give it a unique address. Once the ROK Star Controller selects a vehicle to control, the controller and vehicle are paired and the vehicle will ignore data transmitted by all other controllers. It's like cupping your hands over your mouth and yelling "Hey you!" to a playmate across a crowded playground.
Another key issue is the interference from fluorescent lights that often raises havoc with infrared based control systems. A unique optical filtering system was designed that rejects overhead interference from florescent lighting while allowing the high-speed data bursts from the ROK Star controllers to pass into vehicle receivers unimpeded.
The result is well designed, premium quality remote control toys that are both fun and highly functional. The new ROK Star design is more intuitive than Rokenbok's retiring RF based system, and most users will have it up and running right away, without the need to even reference instructions. Just point a controller at a vehicle and press the select button, now you are in control! No switches to set, no addresses to remember - just point, click and it works.

Rokenbok Monorail Roks, my six year old sons loves this
My son loves the Rokenbok Monorail, we got the Monorail for him about two week ago as soon as I walk in the door he ask if I can play with him. He has combined the set with other sets that he has recieved and tries different combinations, everyday a new creation. He is looking forward to Christmas all he wants in Rokenbok
Great train for all ages!!
My son received the Monorail for his fifth birthday along with the rail expansion set. I gave the rail expansion set 4 stars in another review, so I'm only reviewing the Monorail (and what comes in the box with the Monorail) here. I gave this set 5 stars because we just can't find anything not to like about it. I think our favorite part is that the train actually "works" - the power dump bed picks up roks from the bins and dumps them out - it doesn't just drive around and around the track. We also love that it runs on regular Rokenbok building sets, so you could use any Rokenbok building set to add track. Our son loves the horn sounds that the Monorail makes when you press the "1" or "2" button. The included track makes an oval that fits perfectly with the Rokenbok Construction Starter Set, and even though the oval isn't huge, we still think it's fun and a good value for the price.
The only thing that we have found that doesn't work perfectly every time is the self-centering feature on the power dump bed. Sometimes, it will return itself to slightly off centered which causes it to hit the chute on the starter set. A couple of times, the Monorail has gotten stuck because the power dump bed is off center. But, this is fairly rare, and not enough for us to remove a star. This is still great fun!

Monorail
I've had my monorail system for eleven years and it still looks and works like new. The only problem I've ever had is some slight slipping going up hill. Customer service informs me that some friction tape on the rails will fix that. My kids are finally old enough to build and play with the Rokenbok system and they've been having a great time. All the vehicles are rugged enough to withstand daily use without sacrificing finesse and function. There are some R/C vehicles designed for children that have very limited controls. Rokenbok machines are not like that. They are fully functional and intuitive enough for children to control.
A Powerhouse of Fun!
I've been Rokenboking since 2008. This was my second vehicle! Ever since I opened it out of its box I've been loving it ever since. I love the design of the monorail, and the features it includes! When have you ever seen a toy monorail that has a dump bed? It's WONDERFUL! I would HIGHLY recommend buying this as a great expansion to any Rokenbok world. With this Monorail alone, you can create huge railyards, or loading docks. The new ROK star technology helps turn this train of the future into a powerhouse of fun!
